France is one of the top aluminium scrap exporting countries in the world. The country’s aluminium consumption is driven by packaging, building and the automotive sector. These sectors generate substantial amount of scrap every year. France exports about 400,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap.
Italy and Spain consumes the largest chunk of aluminium scrap export by France. Spain alone imported 114584 tonnes of aluminium scrap from France in 2017 (estimated). France exported around 112028 tonnes and 81280 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Italy and Belgium respectively.
{alcircleadd}As per global export-import data, France is estimated to export 250073 tonnes of aluminium scrap in the half of 2018, up from 245357 tonnes of aluminium scrap in the same period previous year.
The total export volume is expected to increase further in the second half of the year. In H2 2018, the country is estimated to export 247844 tonnes of aluminium scrap, up from 243615 tonnes in the corresponding period previous year.
The country is estimated to generate revenue of US$ 445 million from the export of aluminium scrap in H1 2018, from US$ 78 million in H1 2017. In H2 2018, the revenue is estimated to stand at US$ 460 million, from US$ 90 million in the corresponding period previous year.
