An old car barn in Japan that houses a 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona has attracted eyes of antique car lovers and is going to be auctioned in as-is condition. This was a special Ferrari justified by its gorgeous looks, impressive performance and appearance in Miami Vice. The car has been made extra-special because it's a one-of-a-kind aluminium-bodied Daytona built for street use.
Ferrari did build a few other aluminium build Daytonas, but
those five cars, according to RM Sotheby's, were meant for racing. This was the
only street-ready Daytona painted in red with a black leather interior meant
for normal street driving. It was first bought by the founder of an Italian
automotive magazine, and then it changed hands many times within the country.
In 1971, it was imported to Japan and it enjoyed a long drive till 1980, till
the time its last owner parked it in the barn and it sat there until 2017.
The car will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's at a special
Ferrari auction in The Ferrari Museum in Maranello on Sept. 9, 2017, alongside
a new LaFerrari Aperta.

The odometer of the car reads 36,390 kilometers (about
22,611 miles), and the number is believed to be accurate. A Ferrari specialist
also confirmed that the body, chassis and powertrain all match with each other.
The car also includes a comprehensive tool kit that was used during its
lifetime. RM Sotheby's expects a bid of €1.4 million to €1.7 million for the
car. It will completely depend on the buyer whether he would like to preserve
it as it is or restore it to give a new life.
