Acer has declared the launch of the 'world's lightest' 16-inch OLED laptop, which weighs only 1.17 kgs owing to the magnesium-aluminium alloy used in making its framework. Acer Swift Edge comes with a 4K OLED display (3840X2400), and the aluminium alloy chassis of the product can be light but is extremely sturdy.
{alcircleadd}Big brands like Apple, Google and HP have already switched their raw materials from plastic and polymer to aluminium since the non-ferrous metal is infinitely recyclable. When a product reaches end-of-life, it is often difficult to retrieve any primary elements from the scrap but not if companies start using aluminium because it can retain the original properties even after going through rigorous recycling processes.
The Acer Swift Edge is 12.95 mm in height and sports a narrow bezel with a 92 per cent screen-to-body proportion.
The screen permits a 500 nits peak brightness and has a less than 0.2 ms response time, which supports TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 display certifications.
The new Acer Swift Edge is run by either AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 Series or Ryzen 6000 Series processing units. One can ask for the desired specifications, while the Microsoft Pluton security processor comes complimentary with the system to reduce the chances of cyberattack.
For those who want extra security from harm, biometric authentication and Noble Wedge Lock slot are also embedded in the product. Acer Swift Edge comes with a 1TB SSD storage facility (1024GB PCle NVMe SED SSD).
The use of aluminium in the framework has substantially helped in lowering the weight of the laptop. Moreover, aluminium is non-toxic and heat resistant up to an extent which allows it to be used in any preferable electronics device.
