On Monday, November 4, Chinalco and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau signed a framework agreement for cooperation on mineral resources at Guinea-Bissau's Ministry of Natural Resources. The signing ceremony was attended by Yang Renhuo, China's Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau. Guinea-Bissau is a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast that’s known for national parks and wildlife.

The Ministry expressed hope that Chinalco will leverage its world-class technical expertise and commitment to environmental protection to achieve efficient and sustainable mineral development, thereby contributing to Guinea-Bissau's economic growth.

Dong Jianxiong, Deputy General Manager of Chinalco Group, and Malan Sambu, Guinea-Bissau's Minister of Natural Resources, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties and delivered remarks. Representatives from the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Economy, and Ministry of Environment of Guinea-Bissau were also present at the event.
The Ministry of Natural Resources of Guinea-Bissau expressed its deep gratitude to the government of China, the Chinese Embassy in Guinea-Bissau, and Chinalco. Highlighting the special historical friendship between Guinea-Bissau and China, the Ministry acknowledged China's significant contributions to the nation's development.
On the same day, President Umaro Sissoko Embaló of Guinea-Bissau met with Dong Jianxiong and his delegation. During the meeting, Dong Jianxiong conveyed greetings from Duan Xiangdong, Chairman of Chinalco Group, to President Embaló. The two leaders engaged in cordial discussions about their cooperation. President Embaló assured that the Guinean government would fully support Chinalco's mineral exploration and development efforts in Guinea-Bissau, offering necessary policy backing and facilitating favourable conditions for their operations.
