Airstream, in partnership with Studio F.A. Porsche, has recently embarked on a journey to construct a Concept Travel Trailer with a shiny aluminium body. Porsche AG owns the highly acknowledged state-of-the-art concept arena, Studio F.A. Porsche. The legendary creator of aluminium caravans, Airstream, has enjoyed past alliances with major brands like REI, Ram and Supreme.
{alcircleadd}The debutant aluminium trailer in 1/3rd of its designated shape has been on display at the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas, since March 10.
The brand hopes to aim at the aerodynamics of the Airstream Studio F.A. Porsche Concept Travel Trailer, augmenting its standards to reach a certain pedestal in the automobile industry.
The development of this aluminium trailer can be attributed to experts from Airstream and Studio F.A. This new trailer has a modified read-end that helps in the active flow of air, allowing proper airflow inside. The use of aluminium in the framework and body significantly helps reduce the trailer's weight.
For the first time, Airstream has designed the trailer as a convertible where the roof folds back to fit it in an average-sized parking spot. The trailer also adorns an ergonomic design with proper heating systems, holding tanks and spare wheels. A lithium battery has been embedded in the Airstream trailer's rigid 10-inch aluminium floor spacing.
When asked if the concept would ever end up in production and commercialised, Airstream President and CEO Bob Wheeler stated: "While our concept projects don't always reach the marketplace, the resulting lessons and innovations often influence present and future designs as they make their way into our main product lines."
"Or, simply put, we don't expect to see this concept morph into a product, but many of its ideas and concepts are likely going to be introduced with upcoming Airstream models," he concluded.
Airstream Studio F.A. Porsche Concept Travel Trailer flaunts a utopian design which might be the harbinger of other modernist trailers in the future.
