On Sunday, October 24, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), launched their second plant-wide Social, Environment, and Governance Awareness Campaign (ESG) called, ‘Shaping Our Future.’ Alba is one of the world’s leading smelters in Sustainable Development.
{alcircleadd}Ali Al Baqali, the Chief Executive Officer of Alba started the campaign with a virtual keynote, signifying the achievements of the company and adaptability in terms of ESG. He also highlighted the incorporation of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 Objectives and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the 5-year strategy of Alba.
“To anchor sustainability at the heart of Alba, we have linked ESG in every aspect of our operations; this was also underlined in our Mission on how to remain competitive while charting a path to greater economic and social well-being. This Campaign is a progression of our first campaign ‘Achieving the Balance’ which was held in June 2021 through which we aim to address various topics to be the ESG change we want to see in the world,” said Ali Al Baqali, during his speech.
The campaign will include more than 20 informative session carried out by employees from across the plant. These sessions will be performed using the hybrid approach (virtual and in person). It will also cover different other ESG topics like Water Management, Industry 4.0, Carbon Footprint, Safety as a Social Responsibility, Cyber Security and many others. The campaign will end on November 20, 2021.
As a part of the, “Shaping Our Future,” campaign Alba also expanded their green initiatives beyond its premises, planting more trees on the main road around the smelter, thus becoming a part of the “Forever Green,” campaign initiated by National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).
This campaign is being carried out under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of NIAD Consultative Council. Till now, Alba has surpassed 17.5 million safe working hours as a part of their, “Safety Excellence,” mission.
