It was in 2022 when the Middle Eastern aluminium company reached the production level of 1.6 million tonnes, reflecting a 2.5 per cent Y-o-Y increase from 1,561,222 tonnes. With each passing year, Alba is successfully breaking the record of the earlier year and setting a new one.
Among several achievements this year, it is a special one that Alba has celebrated with a ceremony on January 4, 2024, at Oasis, attended by the company’s executive management, directors, managers, and employees from various departments in attendance.
Leadership's comments
Commenting on the new milestone, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Al Baqali, stated: “We are proud to have once again exceeded our own production target for the year. Today, we celebrate not just numbers but the human capital behind such achievement. I also take the opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Board, Khalid Al Rumaihi, for his leadership and guidance, as well as the Members of the Board for their support throughout 2023.”
In the third quarter of 2023, Alba had underpinned that delivering consistent performance amid uncertain macroeconomic outlook would be their top priority for the next quarter. Chairman of the Board, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa, had said, “We remain focused on our operational excellence and lean cost structure to finish 2023 strong.”
Another milestone in 2023
Another major achievement of Alba was the earning of a 4-star audit rating for health and safety practices at its smelter. Alba emerged as the first smelter in the Gulf countries to have attained this stupendous rating, accredited by the British Safety Council (BSC).
