Alcoa Corporation, the world’s eighth largest aluminium producer, won the Aluminum Industry Leadership award at the 10th annual Platts Global Metals Awards, which recognise and celebrate leadership, innovation, stewardship and commitment to a greener future.
Kelly Thomas, Alcoa’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, accepted the award, the most respected and competitive in the metals sector. It recognises companies that shape the future of the metals industry.
For the past five decades, the Global Metals Awards has recognised and honoured the best-of-the best in the metals industry, whether individual or company. The award acknowledges leadership across fifteen categories.
The Aluminum Industry Leadership award recognises companies that produce and process aluminium while successfully combating difficulties. For this year, judges considered performance and achievements since June 2021.
“The work that we’ve done at Alcoa over these past several years has built a much stronger foundation, and we remain future-focused, as the long-term fundamentals for the aluminum industry remain bright,” said Alcoa President and CEO Roy Harvey. “We know that we’re the company to deliver in a world where strong ESG performance is required.”
In 2021, Alcoa achieved several milestones that made a way for this award. To achieve a sustainable, future, Alcoa unveiled a technology roadmap to pave a path toward net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
