Aliplast Poland: Boom in renewable energy market lifts Aluminium systems company’s business high amid “Corona crisis”

EDITED BY : 4MINS READ

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the market slowdown, the Lublin company Aliplast in 2020 increases sales, employment and continues to invest. This is the effect of the continued boom in construction and the renewable energy market.

Aliplast Poland's market remains high

{alcircleadd}

Aliplast from Lublin deals with everything related to aluminium. Designs and produces, among others aluminium systems for the construction industry, of which doors, windows, facades, winter garden structures are made. Aliplast also produces aluminium parts related to transport, including photovoltaic systems and tent systems.

In Poland, Aliplast is the second-largest player in the aluminium profile production industry, after Aluprof from Bielsko-Biała. In the country, the Lublin based company has approx. 30%. Market share and is considered as an important player in the European market.

Jan Kidaj, President, Aliplast said: “In March and April, i.e. at the beginning of the pandemic, we experienced a slowdown related to logistical issues. Let me give you an example. We had problems getting components for the production of advanced doors from northern Italy and keeping an eye on it. Fortunately, we found other markets and production was largely unaffected. Let's move on. While in May throughout 2020 we assumed sales at the previous year's level, today I can say that the above-mentioned result will be higher. This year we estimate 5-6% growth.”

Aliplast Poland lifts business high

“All because of the three legs of Aliplast, as all the three industries are loosely connected, the construction, automotive and the renewable energy market.”

President Kidaj also explained: “Let's start with construction. This is the industry that has probably resisted the economic slowdown the most. It is enough to travel around Poland and see that housing estates, company headquarters or logistics centres are growing nicely. In this case, the industry is much stabilized, but when it comes to the industry related to the renewable energy market, we are dealing with growth.”

“The relation of Aliplast with renewable energy is that all photovoltaic panels installed on farms, factory waves, public buildings, or roofs of single-family houses are installed are made from aluminium. According to estimates, this market in Poland grows by as much as 15-20% year on year. It also grows in the case of Aliplast. And the forecasts for the renewable energy market are more and more optimistic, also thanks to more and more attractive programs supported by EU funds, such as My Electricity.”

Aliplast Poland's business remains high

He continued: “Let's move on to the automotive industry. It would seem that this sector has suffered quite significantly in cooling the market caused by the pandemic. In the case of Aliplast, this is not entirely the case.”

“We sell profiles for the construction of trucks and trailers for trucks. The entire industry has slowed down, but this is true mainly of the passenger car market. Trucks are leasing that must earn money. It is also logistics and more and more popular, also in the era of a pandemic, courier services. After all, ‘safe’ purchases made on the Internet must be delivered to the customer as soon as possible” - points out President Kidaj.

Investments prove that Aliplast is growing. The company located in the economic zone in Lublin's is slowly starting to suffocate. Therefore, despite a certain slowdown in March and April, the company's management did not give up on investment plans, as it is about the construction of a new warehouse.

However, the investment will be ready at the end of October’20. All technical acceptance is planned for November, and a move in December so that everything will start working from the beginning of the New Year.

“We couldn't put off this investment. If only because of the lack of space, tightness in the company, bouncing backs from each other is an evident decrease inefficiency. Believe me, this is the boss's experience with several decades of work experience” - said President of Aliplast.

The company invests and systematically increases employment. About a few people each month. Today, the aluminium giant from Lublin employs nearly 700 people.

Aliplast's next investments include the construction of a new paint shop in 2021 with a cleanroom function - it is a technologically advanced paint shop for surface treatment of aluminium sheets and bent elements.

At the end of next year, another, the fourth 7-inch press will be launched, and the production plant will be expanded. It is the first and largest company from the economic zone in Felin. It opened its factory there in 2002. Today it employs almost 700 people. In just two years, the company spent well over PLN 100 million on investments.
