Altech Chemicals Limited has spoken about the advancements on its Silumina Anodes TM pilot plant project in Saxony, Germany, also citing regular details about the Definitive Feasibility Study that was conducted before the optimisation of the 10,000 tpa Silumina Anodes TM pilot plant.
{alcircleadd}Recently, the company made it public that its flagship revolutionising technology of amalgamating high-capacity, high-purity alumina-coated silicon and graphite in lithium-ion batteries is ready after a successful Preliminary Feasibility Study. Before constructing the 10,000 tpa Silumina Anodes TM plant in Saxony, all these initial steps were extremely necessary, along with an NPV of US$507 million. Altech is eager to introduce its flagship technology to the market. Altech has planned to build a pilot plant parallel to the prepared project site to enhance the development process and to allow R&D that qualifies its Silumina Anodes for the market.
Altech has proudly publicised that the construction of the Silumina Anodes TM pilot plant has been running on a smooth course, quite according to the laid blueprint. The front end of the pilot plant, also known as the wet circuit, is under construction, with work happening at the anticipated pace. The pivotal infrastructural details are being taken care of and are almost complete, like building alterations, power supply, laboratory and the front-end wet circuit. The pilot plant is being placed under a prevailing building in Dock3 at Schwarze Pumpe, with all the ideal building modifications and electrical wire transmission completed in the last quarter.
Some of the back-end supply materials of the plant, like coating equipment, dryer and calciner (longer lead times), are still being ducked at South African or European ports. Though some back-end items like silicon carbide linings have been exported and installed, Altech imagines having all its essential supplies by Q3 this year.
The personnel to be employed in Altech’s pilot plant have all been given special training in Germany. The front-end commissioning of the pilot plant is at this moment being stressed. The aluminium chloride feedstock important for the alumina coating technique will be available in the upcoming weeks. The engineering experts from Kuettner are now aimed at developing and commissioning a fully operational plant with no out-of-safety incidents. The pilot plant will be equipped to produce almost 120 kg of Silumina Anodes TM per day, which will be streamlined to the factories of chosen analysts and customers for product testing purposes.
Altech has given ARIKON Infrastruktur GmbH (Arikon) the responsibility to oversee the attestation process, site infrastructure needs and the balance of the plant. Arikon will be held accountable for the entire application process as they will completely look after the propulsion of the plant, acquiring the required approvals for the project.
