Aluminium bottles drive Clean Cult’s plastic-free revolution in home cleaning

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Clean Cult, a US-based sustainable cleaning brand, launched its aluminium-packaged products at over 300 Costco locations nationwide in April 2025. This move aims to eliminate plastic waste from home cleaning by offering refillable aluminium bottles and paper-based carton refills. The initiative aligns with Clean Cult's mission to provide effective, affordable and sustainable cleaning solutions.

The use of aluminium in Clean Cult's packaging ensures durability and reusability, reducing reliance on single-use plastics. This innovation marks the introduction of aluminium for the first time in the home cleaning category within a club store environment.

Clean Cult has eliminated plastic packaging by offering filled and refillable 20 fl oz aluminium bottles in scents like Lemon Verbena, Wild Lavender and Sweet Basil. These products are paired with paper-based carton refills, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional cleaning supplies.

The brand's formulas are plant-based, biodegradable and packaged in sustainable materials, further supporting their commitment to environmental responsibility.

Data shows that 3 in 4 Americans worry about plastic pollution. 75% back policies to cut single-use plastics, and 72% want companies to reduce their use. From April 2025, Clean Cult’s award-winning All-Purpose Cleaner will be available in 300 Costco stores across the US.

Ryan Lupberger, CEO of Clean Cult, stated, “Clean Cult was founded on the belief that cleaning should be better for people and the planet. Launching in Costco proves that sustainability and affordability are not mutually exclusive. By bringing our zero-waste solutions to a retailer known for value and bulk purchasing, we’re making it easier than ever for households to reduce plastic waste without compromising on efficacy, convenience or cost. This expansion is a major step toward reshaping the cleaning aisle and accelerating the shift to more sustainable home care at scale.”

In addition to in-store offerings, Clean Cult has expanded its laundry collection on Costco.com, enhancing accessibility to sustainable cleaning products. This expansion reflects the growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly alternatives in everyday household items.
