The Dilsen group E-max, producer of aluminium profiles, will invest €15 million in its branch in Kerkrade, Netherlands. This investment is the final part of the long path to 100% circular and low-carbon aluminium.
{alcircleadd}Dimitri Fotij, CEO of E-max said: “Large multinationals come to see how we managed to do this.”
With the investment, the company wants to produce 100% recycled aluminium, stated the CEO. Old aluminium is melted in the ovens in Kerkrade, which forms the basis for new products.
"Because we only use the waste from old aluminium windows and doors, the less basic raw material has to be extracted elsewhere. That means less depletion of raw materials and fossil fuels, less damage to the landscape and much less CO2 emissions”, said Fotij
The present-day ovens in Kerkrade are now more than twenty years old. According to the company, they need to be replaced to produce 100% recycled aluminium. The capacity will also be increased by the investment of 15 million, from 55,000 to 85,000 tonnes per year.
In addition to the ovens in Kerkrade, E-max also has branches in Dilsen-Stokkem and Kortrijk, Belgium. The company employs a total of about 500 people.
