According to Shanghai Metals Market, all aluminium rod plants in Jiaozuo of China’s top aluminium-producing province Henan are required to halt production, as the city has escalated smog alert to the highest level from 18: 00 CST December 23, 2019.
Under the red alert for heavy air pollution, industrial enterprises are asked to cut pollution emission by no less than 30 per cent.
When the anti-smog measures will be lifted is, however, still not known.
As per another report from SMM yesterday, on December 23, Tangshan has begun to implement level II smog control measures. This comes after the city lifted its last round of anti-smog measures of the same scale last Tuesday, December 17, which lasted for four days.
A production cut of at least 50 per cent is imposed on blast furnaces of steel mills that do not help provide heat and are graded as C-level in terms of environmental status.
