Pátio Paulista Mall in São Paulo and Nespresso have partnered for Christmas 2024 to create a one-of-a-kind, sustainable celebration. Over 50,000 aluminium capsules from Nespresso have been transformed into festive decorations, including sculptures of bears, garlands, and Christmas trees, bringing an innovative and eco-friendly touch to the shopping centre.

This initiative was made possible through the efforts of numerous Nespresso consumers who, throughout the year, deposited their used capsules at the brand's collection points across Brazil, including four at Shopping Pátio Paulista. The project highlights Nespresso's dedication to the circular economy, with approximately 85 per cent of the aluminium used in its capsules coming from recycled sources.
Nespresso's dedication to the circular economy goes beyond mere words; it is a demonstrated commitment. The company has introduced impactful initiatives across its value chain, with one standout example being recycling its aluminium capsules.
"This year's Christmas partnership with the mall celebrates the union between innovation and sustainability in a charming way. By seeing more than 50,000 recycled capsules given new life in sculptures and Christmas decorations, we reinforce our commitment to promoting a circular economy and inspiring sustainable practices among our consumers and partners," stated Marina Gargiulo, Communication, Brand and Sustainability Manager at Nespresso.
Additional collection points will be set up at Shopping Pátio Paulista to inspire consumers to engage in recycling during the Christmas season. This initiative allows customers to responsibly dispose of their used capsules, helping to minimize waste.
After the holiday period, the collected capsules will be sent to Nespresso's recycling centre, where the aluminium will be processed and repurposed for use in the steel industry. Notably, even after Christmas, consumers can continue to recycle their capsules at the Nespresso Boutique located within the shopping centre.
