Alupro's executive director, Tom Giddings, will be a part of this year's Environmental Packaging Summit, which will be held on the 13th and 14th of June at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham. He will discuss the parameters required to reach an 'aluminium-friendly' Deposit Return Scheme (DRS). Tom will participate in a DRS panel discussion to explore the recent developments in all four countries as part of the conference agenda.
The two-day event, organised by Packaging News, will address a variety of themes, such as sustainable packaging, regulation, and industry participation. While EPR changes and DRS legislation will be a major emphasis on both days, day one will include many net zero workshops. In contrast, day two will concentrate primarily on the entire supply chain and industry participation.
{alcircleadd}"With significant policy changes set to transform the packaging industry over the coming months, we're looking forward to sharing our thoughts and participating in debate to discuss the future of metal packaging recycling and its role in driving the circular economy of tomorrow," said Tom Giddings.
The event will bring specialists throughout the packaging supply chain to discuss major industry trends and advances. Keith Allen, commercial sustainability director at Suntory Beverage and Food GB&I; Sam Gold, public relations manager at British Soft Drinks Association; and Phil Fenton, lead packaging and recycling consultant at British Glass, are among the other panellists. The panel' Deposit Return Schemes - Will the UK Get Interoperability?' will be placed on Tuesday, June 13th at 3.40pm.
Martin Hyde, Alupro's sustainability and public relations manager, will also participate in a panel discussion. Martin will take the stage alongside Paldeep Bhatti, head of research and policy at INCPEN, and Margaret Bates, managing director of ORPL, at 12:00 on Wednesday, 14 June, for an in-depth discussion on 'Industry involvement with UK citizens.
“The Summit provides a great opportunity to shout about the successes of our campaigns, demonstrate how our initiatives are encouraging consumers to recycle, and put forward our views on recent consultation responses. We’ll also be reiterating the importance of the infrastructure changes needed to move ever closer towards a 100% recycling rate,” added Giddings.
