Commencing in January 2025, the partnership will see VTG leasing 20 JPA powder tank wagons to ALVANCE, which joins VTG's growing roster of esteemed clients. This deal marks a notable addition to VTG's expanding client portfolio.

The JPA wagons are set to be upgraded with VTG’s groundbreaking iWagon technology, a state-of-the-art innovation revolutionising the rail freight industry. This upgrade will enhance tracking and operational efficiency, equipping ALVANCE with advanced capabilities to meet the evolving demands of its operations seamlessly.

The JPA powder tank wagons were originally explicitly designed for bulk transportation of powder cement.

VTG Rail UK's Sales Manager, Archie Lucas, said, "We are proud to welcome ALVANCE British Aluminium as our newest customer. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to providing innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry. The retrofitting of these JPA wagons with iWagon technology is a testament to our dedication to enhancing efficiency and service delivery in rail transport for the benefit of our customers."

The leased wagons are set to serve a critical role in transporting alumina powder from the Port of Blyth in Northumberland to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. This transport route is essential to ALVANCE’s aluminium production process at one of the world’s most sustainable metal production facilities.

The Managing Director of ALVANCE British Aluminium, Tom Uppington, said, “Partnering with VTG Rail UK for our logistics needs is a strategic move that will significantly enhance our operations. Integrating iWagon technology will improve our efficiency and align with our goals for innovation in our supply chain.”

This collaboration highlights both companies' commitment to innovation and sustainable transport solutions, setting the stage for a more efficient and environmentally friendly future in rail freight.
