After a thorough audit, AMAG has received a "Platinum" rating from EcoVadis in 2023. This puts AMAG in the top 1% of companies assessed in the "Precious Metals and Nonferrous Metals" category for sustainability performance.
This isn't the first time AMAG has received a "Platinum" rating - they also achieved this in 2022 after receiving a "Gold" rating in 2021. This means that AMAG has consistently been one of the top-rated companies for three years in a row.
{alcircleadd}During the EcoVadis assessment, AMAG Austria Metall AG was evaluated through a total of 21 criteria across four different areas - "Environment", "Labor and Human Rights", "Sustainable Procurement", and "Ethics". They were analysed on various targets, such as circular economy, energy consumption, greenhouse gases, impact on biodiversity, occupational safety risk management, and waste reduction.
The CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG, Gerald Mayer, exemplified: "With the repeated top ranking in the aluminum industry, EcoVadis validates our global leading position in the field of sustainability. We see this award as a clear signal to our customers and stakeholders that, in AMAG, they have a reliable and committed partner for a joint sustainable development.”
Sustainability is key to AMAG's strategy, alongside innovation, diversity, and the human touch. AMAG has over 40 years of experience in recycling and has become a world leader in aluminium recycling, with an average scrap input rate of 70-80%. They use innovative closed-loop concepts to ensure the best use of resources and to close material cycles.
They have also set ambitious carbon neutrality goals by the middle of the century at the Ranshofen site, with a CO2 roadmap for decarbonization developed in 2021. By implementing the circular economy as part of the European Green Deal, AMAG is setting an example for others to follow.
