Apple iPhone 15 lineup features 75% recycled aluminium alongside other recycled materials

iPhone fanatics are ecstatic since Tim Cook has permitted the biggest change ever in the Apple charging module. Apple iPhone 15 lineup, for the first time, will have a C-type charging port instead of the tech giant’s proprietary Lightning charger. Though much has changed, a lot abides by Apple’s sustainability protocol since the series uses 75% recycled aluminium and other recycled elements for its make.

The latest models of iPhone, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, have been thoughtfully crafted with the environment in mind. Apple is committed to achieving its goal of making every product carbon-neutral by 2030, and this dedication is reflected in every stage of production, from design to manufacturing to the way customers use their devices. With a focus on clean electricity and the use of recycled and other low-carbon materials, Apple is leading the way in creating sustainable technology for a brighter future.

To further advocate the cause for eco-preservation, Apple has technically introduced recycled aluminium along the entire vertical, starting from phones to smartwatches. Some of the uses of recycled materials have been cited below: 

• iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus use 100% recycled cobalt in the battery
• The main logic board, Taptic Engine, and MagSafe charger also use recycled copper
• The enclosure is made with 75% recycled aluminium
• All magnets in both models use 100% recycled rare earth elements
• USB-C connector, gold plating, and tin soldering in printed circuit boards use 100% recycled gold
• Over 99% of packaging is fibre-based, with a goal of completely removing plastic by 2025
• The outer frame uses rare metal titanium for the first time 

Also, to protect the husbandry, Apple is going to negate the use of leather in any of its products, including iPhone accessories. Apple is introducing a novel FineWoven Case with MagSafe and FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe, crafted from durable and sophisticated micro twill that boasts a soft and luxurious suede-like texture. The material is composed of 68 per cent post-consumer recycled content and exhibits significantly lower carbon emissions when compared to its leather counterpart.

Apple’s commitment to sustainability has broken all boundaries this time, and it has been a repetitive formula for the company where it not only looks after the product’s lifetime but also illustrates the path of its demise. 

Aluminium here plays a vital part because the non-ferrous material is 100% recyclable and can retain its original properties after rigorous rounds of transformation, thus creating a circular economy. Apple has used aerospace-grade aluminium in the creation of the iPhone 15 lineup, which gives the model constitutional integrity. 

YouTubers have conducted drop tests to see if the aluminium-titanium enclosure gives away under pressure, but to bring satisfaction to the eager iPhone crowd; no harm was caused to the phone.
