Apple likely to feature both aluminium & titanium for its upcoming Vision Pro models

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Apple is gearing up for a bold material shift in its future Vision Pro models, according to a report by Bloomberg on April 27, 2025. Whispers of a lighter Apple Vision headset have been floating around for months, and they resurfaced with fresh momentum recently.

The tech giant is planning to incorporate both aluminium and titanium, with the former gracing the outer shells, maintaining its sleek, familiar look and holding onto its sustainability factor. On the other hand, rumours suggest that titanium will feature in the internal structures of future Vision Pro models.

Adding to the intrigue, the leaker tease suggests that the new, lighter model could sport a colour palette inspired by the iconic black finish of the iPhone 5 era — a nostalgic nod wrapped in cutting-edge innovation.

Aluminium is a key component of Apple’s sustainability strategy, with the company making notable progress in integrating recycled aluminium into its product line-up. By tapping into recycled aluminium, Apple has cut down on the demand for primary aluminium production, which is a resource-heavy process. This shift not only helps reduce environmental impact but also aligns with Apple’s broader goal of minimising its carbon footprint. To learn more about Apple’s sustainable revolution, click here.

Coming back to Apple Vision Pro, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who reported on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Apple is working on multiple revisions of the Vision Pro aimed at attracting a broader user base. The source mentioned that one of the successors will be a lighter, more consumer-friendly version designed to be both more affordable and more accessible than the current model.

Meanwhile, the American multinational corporation is also developing a tethered version of the Vision Pro that connects to a Mac, allowing the computer to handle all processing tasks for maximum responsiveness. According to Gurman, the lighter, more consumer-focused model is expected to launch first, likely between the end of 2025 and the first half of 2026.
