Ark, a London-based EV startup, has just launched the Ark Zero electric quadricycle, which is being touted as the UK's most affordable electric vehicle. The tiny aluminium vehicle measures 2,500 millimetres in length, 1,202 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, making it more compact than the Citroën Ami.
The Ark Zero EV has been designed to promote sustainable transportation and a cleaner transformation of the UK's automobile sector. It is made entirely of 100% recyclable aluminium, which makes it lightweight and strong.
The vehicle's body and chassis are combined into a single unit, constructed entirely of lightweight and sturdy aluminium using monocoque technology. This design enhances the vehicle's strength and rigidity, making it safer in the event of an accident. Aluminium was chosen for its ability to absorb and dissipate energy better than steel and its corrosion resistance.
The vehicle's narrow body can accommodate only two adults - the driver, a passenger on the rear seat, and a small pet. At a weight of just 489 kilograms (1,078 pounds), the Ark Zero is impressively lightweight due to its aluminium construction. Powered by an 80-Ah lithium-ion battery and a 3-bhp (2.2-kilowatt) motor, the vehicle can travel up to 50 miles (80 kilometres) and reach a top speed of 28 mph.
When it comes to charging, the car comes with a Type 1 charger and can be fully charged in six to eight hours for less than a pound. This makes it affordable and convenient for those who want to charge their vehicle at home.
Intrigued people might check out the specifications of Ark Zero by logging into the company's website. Customers can choose from four exterior colours and expect delivery within 14-16 weeks from the order confirmation date. The launch of this two-door electric quadricycle is a positive step towards promoting eco-friendly transportation in the UK, and it will be interesting to see how it fares in the market.
