In March this year, Turkey-based gun manufacturer Arttech Defense is about to produce two new centerfire hunting rifles with light aluminium alloy construction. Both models will be marked under the Prima series, where one has a straight-pull configuration, and the other flaunts one pump action.
The one pump action would be tagged XP, while the straight pull would be called the SP. The fully aluminium alloy forged rifles have been specifically crafted to be compatible with .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield and .300 Winchester Magnum cartridges.
Arttech has been crafting shotguns and pistols for the last five decades, and some Turkish gun-makers have recently incorporated their designs into the brand’s portfolio.
The XP and SP are similar in attributes as they have matching bolts with rotating heads. Though the upper receiver has been created of steel for extreme durability, the lower receiver is composed of aluminium alloy, which saves a lot of extra weight and is perfect for recoil.
The straight-pull action can be compared with shotguns that have been in immense demand across Australia. The pump action of the rifle also provides a return spring to end the action after the shooter retrieves the forend-mounted pump. This addition makes the rifle much more swift and agile.
The Arttech Prima XP rifles would be available in black polymer stock or pure military camouflage, whereas the SP offers the option of walnut stock.
The use of aluminium in the framework is very crucial because it lowers the weight of the entire model by a heavy percentage. This helps in carrying the rifle all around the target field, along with providing rigid support to the user while he shoots.
