Assan Alüminyum, a subsidiary of Kibar Holding and the most prominent Turkish producer of flat-rolled aluminium products, has decided to give ESG (environmental, social, and governance) high priority in its long-term strategy and future plans.
{alcircleadd}To improve the sustainability of its manufacturing and recycling processes, the firm adheres to the Performance Standards of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). The foundation for the company's ESG-focused future goals is laid by recent releases of sustainable products, corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, and sustainable expansion plans.
"We have some exciting news regarding on all 3 dimensions of ESG. As a part of our environmental sustainability-oriented developments, our highly competent R&D team is working on a series of low-carbon, premium products. Our 3423 Recycling-Friendly Alloy is a fine example of these, as is uses more than 95% non-primary aluminium as raw material. Therefore 3423 has a 50% less carbon footprint than equivalent products," said Goksal Gungor, General Manager at Assan Alüminyum.
The company also generates renewable energy at its own plant at a pace equal to its yearly electrical needs. The business can offset its scope 2 emissions by developing and purchasing International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC).

Recent certifications in ISO 31000 Risk Management Systems and ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Systems for the organisation would help it manage risks more effectively. Additionally, the business hopes to grow its yearly production capacity to 360.000 tonnes by next year through sustainable investment plans totalling approximately $100 million USD. This would give it the greatest continuous casting capacity in Europe and the Americas.
