The leading Austrian premium supplier of high-quality cast and rolled aluminium products used in a wide range of industries, AMAG Austria Metall AG is now grabbing the remaining 30% of the German firm Aircraft Philipp (ACP), based in Übersee am Chiemsee following the initial stakeholding in October 2021.
However, with this acquisition, it will be the sole owner from the turn of the year. Following the accomplishment of the takeover, the name of the company will also change to AMAG components.
This name change represents the expansion of AMAG’s product portfolio into components and ready-to-install aluminium and titanium components for the international aerospace industry. The combination of the foundry and rolling mill in Ranshofen with mechanical production at the two AMAG components sites in Übersee and Karlsruhe, together with AMAG’s high level of expertise in recycling, is unique in the world. It also permits closed material cycles. The chips and cuttings produced in machining are recycled in Ranshofen, restricting the carbon footprint in the aviation industry.
AMAG components boast more than 60 years of experience in the aerospace industry and aluminium and titanium machining. The acquisition navigates AMAG Group to join a top-class company with a high degree of specialization and innovation.
Gerald Mayer, CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG, said: “We are confident about the recovery of the aviation industry in the medium term and our unique position. As the only producer of rolled aluminium products, we now offer our customers in the aerospace industry ready-to-install components from a single source. With the acquisition of AMAG components now complete, we continue to pursue our strategy with innovative speciality products. We are helping to minimize the carbon footprint in the aerospace industry through recycling, which creates closed loops for materials, and through the use of green energy.”
