British bike manufacturer Bowman Cycles has re-launched its highly coveted frameset the Palace in a new avatar. The redesigned tube set made from aluminium has contributed to a significant 150 gram weight saving. The original Palace launched two years ago had won the Frameset of the Year 2014 award. The latest version of the frame, named Palace R, in its light-weight aluminium built promises to yield higher speed and a better riding experience.
“Learning from what made the first Palace great, we’ve refined small details, totally revised the whole tube-set and the Palace is reborn – we give you: The Palace R,” the Kent based company said in a media release.
Bowman is known for manufacturing smartly designed frames at competitive price points, with a range that covers almost every category of bikes from road race to an all-road to cyclocross. With the new Palace R, the Kent based firm has smartly retained the geometry from the original Palace, which stood out because of its handling flexibility, while redesigning the rest of it including tubes and wall-thickness. The result is a significant drop in weight by 150 gm – a 58cm frame, which the company claims, to come at 1,170gram. 
The Palace R is made out of 6069-T6 triple butted aluminium; every tube is new and the wall thicknesses have been reduced which apart from helping in shedding extra weight, also enhances the ride comfort. There is also a brand new forged head tube, asymmetric stays and a FlareSquare seat tube, tapered from round at the top to square at the bottom bracket.

Bowman is said to be aiming at delivering the production frame in December. Colour choice for the aluminium bike frame Palace R includes black/jade or a bold green. There is also a choice of six frame sizes ranging from 50cm to 60cm.
