The National Technical Committee for Standardisation of Nonferrous Metals has forwarded the notice from the National Standardisation Administration announcing the release of the fourth batch of recommended national standard plans and their foreign language versions for 2024. Notably, the national standard plan for aluminium and aluminium alloy plates and strips for New Energy Power Battery Cases and Covers, led by the Chinalco Materials Institute, has been approved, along with its foreign language version.
{alcircleadd}Revised Standards to Support Growth in New Energy Vehicle Industry
This standard revision aims to support the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle industry and to utilise standards to guide and enhance the high-quality development of green intelligent manufacturing. The project, led by the Chinalco Materials Institute, is recognised as a key initiative by the State Administration for Market Regulation for important oversight.
With the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle industry, there has been a significant increase in demand for aluminium and aluminium alloy plates and strips used in new energy batteries across electric vehicles, electric bicycles, power storage, and communication storage sectors. Currently, the market's supply and demand are stable, and a wealth of quality and technical data has been accumulated, providing a solid foundation for revising the standards for these materials.
What does it include
The revised standard introduces new technical requirements for components such as explosion-proof valves, welding rings, pole lugs, pole columns, and soft connections, offering essential technical guidance for users in their subsequent processing and production.
It also incorporates key technical indicators, including microstructure, surface roughness, and edge burr height of aluminium plates and strips for new energy batteries. Additionally, a new technical indicator reflecting the forming performance of XRD macro texture has been proposed, which aims to enhance the technical capabilities and reinforce the competitive advantages of domestic enterprises in this field.
Aluminium plates and sheets are the fabricated aluminium products. The aluminium plates are produced when the aluminium is passed between rolls under pressure and then it changes into thinner and longer. The aluminium sheet is produced when slab is again rolled through a continuous mill in order to diminish its thickness and then wound into a coil at the end of the line.
