Chrysler’s 100-year ride rolls into the future with electrified shine

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Chrysler is set to celebrate a century of automotive innovation in 2025, marking 100 years since its founding. From April 16-27, the brand will take centre stage at the 2025 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), which itself commemorates 125 years. This dual milestone will spotlight Chrysler’s evolution with a showcase of three key models representing its past, present and future.

At the heart of the exhibit will be the 1924 Chrysler Six, the brand’s first production car, which introduced engineering breakthroughs like aluminium pistons and hydraulic brakes, cutting-edge for its time. Alongside it, the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid exemplifies Chrysler’s present-day leadership in the minivan segment, boasting class-exclusive Stow 'n Go seating and hybrid efficiency. Completing the trio is the Chrysler Halcyon Concept, a futuristic electric model blending sustainable aluminium design with autonomous technology and a vision for a cleaner, connected future.

Aluminium has long played a crucial role in Chrysler’s engineering journey, from lightweight early models to today’s advanced electric and hybrid vehicles. Its application in Chrysler vehicles has consistently enhanced performance, reduced weight and improved fuel efficiency. In particular, aluminium has become essential in meeting modern sustainability goals, especially in electrified offerings like the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Halcyon Concept.

Chrysler’s century-spanning legacy is also marked by other iconic innovations, the 1934 Chrysler Airflow, the first car shaped in a wind tunnel, the introduction of the HEMI engine in 1951, the Chrysler 300 muscle car and the 1983 debut of the minivan. Signature features like Stow 'n Go seating and rear-seat entertainment systems underscore the brand’s commitment to thoughtful, user-centric design.

"Chrysler holds a significant place in automotive history and culture and has been a symbol of innovation and resilience for 100 years," said Chris Feuell, Chrysler CEO. "It's an entire century of innovation: from its introduction of the HEMI V-8 engine, to the creation of the minivan segment and Stow 'n Go seating. As one of the original Big Three, Chrysler contributed to industrial growth and influenced culture with iconic vehicles like the Chrysler 300. Chrysler is more than just a car brand, it's a key part of the automotive industry."

Looking ahead, Chrysler is poised to continue that legacy with refreshed models, including a new crossover and updates to the Pacifica. As it celebrates its 100-year journey, the brand continues to roll confidently into the future lighter, smarter and more electrified than ever.
