At FACHPACK 2024, Constantia Flexibles introduced a groundbreaking digital print technology tailored for die-cut aluminium dairy lids. This innovation, described as an "industry-first," was discussed by Michael Harder, Senior Vice President Dairy, and Thomas Schulz, Vice President Group Marketing Communication. The new solution promises significant benefits for the dairy sector and sets new standards in sustainability, efficiency, and flexibility.
{alcircleadd}Constantia Flexibles' latest offering addresses key industry demands, including food safety, ease of use, and sustainability, all while adhering to rigorous regulatory standards like the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP) and Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). These regulations highlight the challenges and importance of developing recyclable, food-safe materials that meet both consumer expectations and environmental mandates. In response, Constantia has committed to enhancing digital print capabilities across various consumer packaging segments, starting with dairy and continuing further.
Digital printing is not a new technology, yet Constantia Flexibles' service is pioneering in the dairy sector. The company's digital print solution eliminates the need for traditional cylinders or printing plates, reducing preparation time and associated costs. With a streamlined CMYK process, the company can match up to 93 per cent of the Pantone scale, enabling it to deliver high-quality graphics similar to standard home printers. This development allows for rapid design changes, short production runs, and expedited turnaround times—achieving rush jobs in as little as five working days.
