Crown Holdings Inc., a leading supplier of beverage, food, and aerosol packaging, is reportedly participating in COP28, the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (Dubai, November 30-December 12), to extend its cooperation in the worldwide efforts of decarbonisation and sustainability. Crown Holdings realises that collective efforts are imperative to achieve this goal worldwide across both the upstream and downstream aluminium industry.
With Climate Action and Optimum Circularity as two core pillars of focus with the ongoing Twentyby30™ programme, Crown Holdings incessantly strives to reduce carbon footprints and transform its entire supply chain to sustainability.
The company is participating in two sessions on site at COP28, speaking along the thought leaders on various aluminium-centric topics. Sandrine Duquerroy-Delesalle, Director of Sustainability & External Affairs at Crown, will address the sessions.
One of the two sessions is on COP28 Call to Action – Circularity in the Heavy Emitting Sectors: A Call to Accelerate Aluminum Beverage Can Circularity, on Tuesday, December 5, at 4 PM GST.
This session, convened by COP28 and the International Aluminium Institute, will focus on the importance of aluminium beverage can recycling to achieve net zero targets. It will also highlight the need to implement widespread national and regional policies that will drive higher collection, sorting and recycling of post-consumption cans.
Another session is on Wednesday, December 6, 1 PM GST, on: From Policy to Action, Solving the Waste Challenges. Convened by Tadweer, a leading waste and environmental services operator, the session will conduct a discussion on waste management strategies and regulations and notably the principles of extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies and its impacts on product life cycles as well as the importance of packaging waste recycling for the environment.
Crown Holdings is highly delighted to participate in this global forum and share its knowledge and experience in recycling and waste management to bring decarbonisation to the entire aluminium value chain industry. The company has also urged other global companies to take part in these collective efforts to make the sustainability drive easily achievable.
