The developer of high-technology businesses in the world of mining and minerals exploration, ABx Group has appointed Dr Mark Cooksey, the CEO of Alcore, its subsidiary, as the Chief Executive of the parent company.
{alcircleadd}Following ABx prolonged leader Ian Levy decided to stand down from his present designation from 1st February 2022. Dr Mark Cooksey earlier held the CEO position of Alcore, an ABx company that has been developing an aluminium fluoride refinery in NSW.
Dr Cooksey initially began his professional career with aluminium smelting at Comalco/Rio Tinto Alcan before setting his feet for a long-term tenure at the CSIRO, where he was associated with new process technologies in the minerals and metals industries, comprising bauxite processing and rare earth element technologies.
Ian Levy, the outgoing CEO of ABx Group said, “This appointment was delayed 18 months by the Covid pandemic, during which, Mark found ways to overcome setbacks and proved he has the skills and determination to lead our company through its biggest development phase ahead.”
“Mark is taking on this corporate leadership role at a time when Australia is wisely increasing the development of new technologies, especially those that increase security and environmental excellence of Australian industry.”
“Ian Levy will remain on its board and will continue to work on its rare earth exploration projects”, ABx said.
In December 2021, ABx broke ground on the construction of an NSW pilot plant that will focus to produce precursor chemicals for recycling aluminium smelter waste into high-value products such as aluminium fluoride.
Aluminium fluoride refers to inorganic compounds that are generally utilized in the production of aluminium in welding applications and ceramic glazes and enamels.
