Nespresso Brasil has partnered with WTNB, the innovative brand led by Japanese-Brazilian designer Ana Clara Watanabe, to create eco-conscious art inspired by Tarsila do Amaral, using recycled coffee waste. This collaboration focuses on repurposing coffee waste to produce buttons for the designer's latest collection.
{alcircleadd}The collection, aptly named "Tarsila do Amaral," is a tribute to the iconic works of celebrated artists such as EFCB (Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil), São Paulo, and São Paulo Gazo. These works will commemorate their centennial in 2024, adding a layer of historical significance to the collection. Crafted from recycled materials, the new pieces embody the concept of fashion as art, reflecting Ana Clara Watanabe's life philosophy and her commitment to sustainability.
"As Tarsila grew up on a coffee farm in Rafard, in the interior of São Paulo, it made a lot of sense to look for a partner who could provide us with this raw material and who also shared the same sustainability values. Therefore, Nespresso was my choice", said Ana Clara.
Nespresso's commitment towards sustainability
Nespresso's commitment to the circular economy is not just a statement but a tangible reality. The company has implemented transformative initiatives throughout its value chain, with a notable example being the recycling of its aluminium capsules. These capsules are sent to recycling centres, where the aluminium is meticulously separated from the coffee grounds. The aluminium is then treated and transformed into raw material for various industries. This recycled aluminium is a versatile resource used to manufacture a wide range of products, including jackets, watches, pocket knives, bicycles, and even Christmas decorations.
The pieces created by Ana Clara Watanabe will debut on May 28th at the historic Edifício Martinelli, located in the heart of São Paulo, during an exclusive event for guests. Following the performance parade, the collection will be displayed at the same venue for public viewing.
