Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) was recently commemorated at the Emirates Recycling Awards hosted by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). RAKEZ was recognized for its outstanding achievements in the 'Glass Collection Campaign' and was also honoured as one of the top 10 champions in the 'Can Collection Campaign'.
This is a testament to RAKEZ's unwavering commitment to sustainability and its important role in recycling and environmental conservation.
RAKEZ has been working closely with EEG for many years, participating in various waste recycling initiatives and receiving recognition across multiple categories. This partnership has been instrumental in promoting environmental awareness and driving sustainable practices within RAKEZ.
During the latest bi-annual campaign, RAKEZ collected 488 kilograms of aluminium cans from four zones within RAKEZ: Al Hamra Industrial Zone, Al Hulaila Industrial Zone, Al Ghail Industrial Zone, and the business zone. RAKEZ impressively collected 15,056 kilograms of glass bottles from Al Hamra and Al Ghail areas within eight months. These bottles were then handed over to the EEG team for recycling, contributing to the UAE's sustainability efforts.
The positive thing about aluminium is it can be 100% recycled without losing the original properties of the non-ferrous metal, inducing a circular economy. Moreover, beverage cans comprise the best quality of aluminium, making it easier to recycle.
RAKEZ's unwavering commitment to sustainability has been reflected in its recognition at the Emirates Recycling Awards. RAKEZ Group CEO Ramy Jallad expressed his delight at the achievements and emphasized the organization's dedication to a greener economy. Every achievement is driven by sustainability, and RAKEZ is determined to integrate sustainable practices into its everyday operations.
