The Polish company Extral Aluminium (Extral Sp. z o.o.), which specialises in aluminium extrusions, has enhanced its manufacturing capabilities to serve the construction, automobile, and machinery sectors better. This enhancement includes acquiring a new aluminium extrusion press and procuring a Nitrex nitriding system featuring Nitreg® technology, specifically designed for nitriding H11 and H13 extrusion dies of various dimensions.
This investment aligns with Extral's expansion of its operational presence in Poland, which involves the construction of a new facility to accommodate the extrusion press and Nitrex furnace. Expanding its infrastructure, Extral aims to broaden its range of extruded products while upholding its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. Introducing the new nitriding installation is expected to contribute significantly to these objectives by optimising the utilisation of process gases and electricity.
Previously, Extral relied on outsourcing its nitriding operations to a local heat treater due to issues with the quality of an in-house nitriding unit. However, with this latest investment, Extral is bringing nitriding operations back in-house, enabling better oversight of quality and consistency in nitrided dies and facilitating faster turnaround times.
The turnkey nitriding system comprises an NX-1015 pit-type furnace with a 2-ton (4410-lb) load capacity and NITREG® technology. This technology offers established nitriding treatments that enhance die performance and throughput while reducing tooling costs.
Marcin Stoklosa, the Project Manager at Nitrex, said, "Working with Extral on this project has been a pleasure. I have known the key contacts at Extral for nearly a decade, having met them and discussed their needs at various trade shows across Europe. Seeing customers invest in their business and achieve their goals, especially when it aligns with our values of innovation and sustainability, is always rewarding."
