FIT AG, an additive manufacturing solutions provider or a 3D printing company, has announced a strategic partnership with global construction company Caterpillar Inc, headquartered in Illinois, to make 3D print aluminium and titanium parts for the letter’s large-scale machinery.
This partnership aims at combining Caterpillar’s expertise in machinery and engineering, with FIT AG’s knowledge of 3D printing to put in use the benefits of AM in the heavy manufacturing sector.
The merger will supplement the ongoing work in Caterpillar’s Additive Manufacturing Factory, while boosting FIT AG’s commitment to the industrial equipment market.

“We are thrilled to enter into a strategic alliance with Caterpillar,” said Carl Fruth, CEO of FIT AG. “Caterpillar is a world leader in many markets, which will benefit greatly from additive manufacturing.”
Caterpillar’s partner, FIT AG specializes in rapid prototyping services and additive design and manufacturing through its subsidiaries FIT Production GmbH and FIT Production GmbH. The strategic alliance between FIT AG and Caterpillar will have an initial three-year term. It may extend further collaboration based on the measure of success from the present merger.
