Forge Design to develop Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB with carbon fibre-aluminium construct

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB, without any doubt, is the most enigmatic creation by the automobile genius. This particular Prancing Horse was first unveiled at the 1959 Paris Motor Show and has now been redesigned by the company Forge Design to give it a lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre body.

To make their sustainability efforts look clearer, the company will be incorporating a V12 engine that runs on hydrogen, making the specimen a green vehicle. The model features protruding headlights, an enlarged bonnet and a laid-back roof.

The New-York based car designer has named this creation Competizione Ventidue after being inspired by the Comp 61 version of the 250 SWB model. This particular series had a common characteristic wherein all the cars had a lighter chassis and sleek aluminium bodywork.

The Competizione Ventidue imitates its precursors using an aluminium and carbon fibre chassis, which is lighter than the conventional car skeletons in the market. Using aluminium in the construction will be very beneficial when the vehicle reaches its life’s end. Since aluminium is infinitely recyclable, the car’s chassis might be transformed to fetch a fresh batch of aluminium for other commercial manufacturing purposes.

Another major point about the 250 GT Berlinetta is that its V12 engine utilises hydrogen to generate power. Though Forge Design has not yet disclosed the business specifications, it can be predicted that the company would use similar technologies that Toyota is already developing. This technology would permit the internal combustion mills to carry on individual activities only if they agree to curtail carbon emissions.

Future of Aluminium in Transportation Sector

The Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB has not yet been rolled out by Forge Design, and as the company’s website states, these are just “speculative designs and renderings”. The car innovator has kept its online portal open for constructive criticism and advice.
