Germany imported EUR 89.7 billion worth of goods in January 2018, up 6.7 per cent from a year earlier. Germany’s import of aluminium powder and flakes increased in volume in 2017 when compared to 2016 data.
Russian Federation is the top supplier of aluminium powder and flakes to the country. Germany imported an estimated 11445 tonnes of aluminium powder and flakes last year. Germany bought the maximum amount of aluminium powder and flakes from Austria, the United Kingdom, Poland and Bahrain (2017 data).
{alcircleadd}The global import-export data shows, Germany imported 30463 tonnes of aluminium powder and flakes in 2017. The total import was valued at US$14 million. In 2016, the country had imported 29543 tonnes of aluminium powder and flakes with total value estimated at US$74 million.
In 2018, Germany is estimated to import around 30684 tonnes of aluminium powder and flakes. The value of import is projected to reach US$85 million.
Aluminium powder is a granular powder which is obtained from pure molten aluminium metal while aluminium flakes comes from aluminium powder through dry ball milling process. Aluminium powder is used in making paints and sealants, sparkles and glitters, aerated autoclave concrete, reflective roof coating and printing inks.
