In November 2021, the global primary aluminium production stood at 5.497 million tonnes, a decrease of 3.37 per cent from 5.689 million tonnes in October. On a year-on-year calculation too, the output stood down, although marginally, by 0.20 per cent than 5.508 million tonnes.
In three month time (September-November), the world primary aluminium output totalled 16.667 million tonnes, up by 0.79 per cent from 16.537 million tonnes during the same period last year.
From January to November, total production of primary aluminium across the world amounted to 61.792 million tonnes, an increase of 3.63 per cent from 59.629 million tonnes a year ago.
China, the world’s largest primary aluminium producer, churned out 3.160 million tonnes of the metal in November, which reflected a month-on-month downfall of 3.36 per cent from 3.270 million tonnes and a decline of 1.47 per cent year-on-year from 3.207 million tonnes. Total production from January to November stood at 35.799 million tonnes, up by 5.18 per cent from 34.037 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
In the Gulf region, primary aluminium production in November 2021 stood at 499,000 tonnes, registering a decrease of 15,000 tonnes or 2.92 per cent from 514,000 tonnes in October. But on a year-on-year basis, the output in Gulf region in November stood 20,000 tonnes or 4.18 per cent higher than 479,000 tonnes. Total production from January to November amounted to 5.388 million tonnes compared to 5.336 million tonnes in the same period last year.
In Asia (ex-China), primary aluminium output in November 2021 came in at 373,000 tonnes after being declined by 3.62 per cent from 387,000 tonnes in October. On a yearly basis, the production edged 8.43 per cent higher than 344,000 tonnes.
