The recycling of aluminium is gradually becoming crucial in the global aluminium value chain business, as it bars the metal aluminium to be sourced from the excavation of bauxite and shields exploitation. The aluminium industry generates a huge amount of metal scrap and also aluminium in use collected as metal scrap now get processed for recycling, instead of landfilling, which is considered as a harmful act.
The cradle of Western Civilization, the birthplace of democracy, the Olympic Games, Greece exported 17,334 tonnes of aluminium scrap in 2020 and the revenue generated from the export accounted for $16.01 million.
In 2020, Greece exported aluminium scrap to 23 nations around the globe, while the top five nations are India, Albania, Netherlands, Bulgaria and Italy imported 53.40% of the aluminium scrap, counted to the volume of 9257 tonnes and contributing 62.02% of revenue amounting to $9.93 million.
Greece export of aluminium scrap records reveals that India remains at the top of the list for the import of metal scrap with a volume of 4782 tonnes and the export country earned $6.22 million in 2020.
The country at South-eastern Europe’s Balkan Peninsula, Albania stands as the second-highest importer of aluminium scrap from Greece in 2020, the export volume was 1247 tonnes and the amount paid for the import by Albania to Greece was $0.77 million.
The North-western European nation, Netherlands stands third in the list for Greece export of aluminium scrap with a volume of 1205 tonnes and revenue earnings of Greece stood at $1.26 million.
The 4th and 5th place is also occupied by two European nations Bulgaria and Italy respectively. Greece export of aluminium scrap to Bulgaria in 2020 was registered at 1153 tonnes and the earnings remained at $0.82 million, whereas, for Italy, the export volume was 870 tonnes, while the earnings occurred was $0.86 million.
