HRE Wheels a custom wheel manufacturer is coming up with a series of aftermarket two-piece carbon/fiber aluminium wheels. As per HRE, this new series will set a new benchmark in terms of performance and quality. According to the company, the new CBRN line achieves excellent impact resistance and "class-leading" strength-to-weight ratios thanks to a "toughened-resin" system and unique Vacuum-Assisted Resin-Transfer Molding technology.
"With carbon fiber wheels becoming more readily available through several OEMs, we knew the materials and technologies were finally ready for us to achieve our goals with carbon fiber," said HRE Wheels CEO Alan Peltier.
The carbon-fiber rim is linked to forged aluminium centres with high-strength titanium fasteners on the two-piece wheels. Customers may have a "Frozen" Satin or Gloss clear coat on the CRBN rim itself, as well as any of HRE's bespoke finishes for the forged centre. To begin, the CRBN Series HX1 wheel will be available in four different styles: HX100 Mesh, HX101 Y-Spoke, HX104 V-Spoke, and HX107 Split 5-Spoke, all in 20, 21, and 22-inch diameters. By developing a completely smooth outer layer of carbon, HRE went to considerable efforts to ensure that no seam lines were evident.
"The exciting thing for us is that the CRBN rim is just the start of HRE's use of exotic materials and advanced manufacturing methods. Our goal is to keep pushing the envelope so that we continue to surpass the demanding expectations of our customers who own the world's most sophisticated supercars and hypercars,” added Alan Peltier.
Because each wheel is made-to-order, there are almost endless fitting, colour, and finish possibilities for a truly unique wheel-buying experience. For simplicity of installation, CRBN wheels are available in centre-locks and are OE TPMS and lug hardware compatible. For quality assurance traceability and increased customer assistance, the CRBN rim additionally has an RFID chip placed into the barrel. Each of the new wheels costs $6,350.
Carbon fibre has a different set of technical limitations than aluminium, but the CRBN, like other HRE wheels, is designed to withstand the rigours of track use and rotational inertia while optimising strength and impact resistance. According to HRE, such efforts result in ideal acceleration, handling, and braking performance. Furthermore, HRE stated that it took "particular care" in the design and production of the CRBN rim to avoid the seam that can be seen on other carbon-fiber rims.
