Indian Oil initiates 'Refuel with RecyKal' campaign for pet bottles and aluminium cans

{alcircleadd}

The campaign is being rolled out at five of their retail outlets in the city and encourages customers to bring in pet bottles and aluminium cans to drop in a reverse vending machine and receive fuel points. Additionally, customers can bring in dry waste such as plastic, paper, cardboard, e-waste, glass, and metal to receive fuel points.

Aluminium is 100% recyclable and can retain its original properties even after vigorous transformations. This certainly reduces the usual amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere during primary aluminium production. Due to these infinitely recyclable properties, aluminium can help build a closed material loop. Moreover, aluminium cans contain the purest form of the non-ferrous metal, making recycling easier.

Other than the COCO Hitec City outlets, the campaign will run for three months at selected retail places, including Adhoc Indira Petro Products, TSIIC, Knowledge City, COCO Jubilee Hills, Gold Strike, Raj Bhavan Road, and Cyber Filling Station, Miyapur.

The sustainability programme is aimed at instigating customers to exchange their dry waste for fuel and is being facilitated by RecyKal, a technology-driven solution provider. RecyKal has developed a digital system that collects and valorizes waste and pays customers in credits, which can be redeemed for fuel at select Indian oil fuel stations.

The CEO of RecyKal, Abhay Deshpande, referred to the prevailing situation of ample waste generation in India and said that the country has a bright potential for a circular economy. Indian Oil's senior officials, including ED and State head of TAPSO, B. Anil Kumar, and GM (RS-II), TAPSO M.B. Manohar Roy, also participated in the event and talked about the positive effects of this eco-friendly initiative in the future.
