The data revealed by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) indicates a 2 per cent year-on-year decline in Iran’s aluminium ingot production during the first two months of the calendar year 1402 (March 21-May 21). The output dropped from 114,850 tonnes to 112,767 tonnes in the ongoing year.
South Aluminum Corporation (SALCO), Iran’s one of the top four aluminium ingot producing companies, produced 49,220 tonnes in two months. Iranian Aluminum Company (IRALCO) produced 31,067 tonnes, Almahdi Aluminium Company churned out 26,155 tonnes, and Iran Alumina Company generated 6,325 tonnes.
In the past Iranian calendar year 1401 ended March 20, aluminium ingot output stood at 632,166 tonnes, contributed by SALCO’s 270,185 tonnes of production, IRALCO’s 178,077 tonnes, Almahdi’s 147,749 tonnes, and Iran Alumina Company’s 36,155 tonnes.
On a year-on-year calculation, Iran’s aluminium ingot output in the last fiscal rose 17.36 per cent from 538,633 tonnes, showed IMIDRO.
Iranian officials estimate the country’s aluminium sector is worth $22 billion. Iran is now the 18th biggest aluminium-producing country in the world.
By the Iranian calendar year 1404 (March 2025-March 2026), Iran aims to achieve 1.5 million tonnes of aluminium ingot output.
