Italy imported US$452.2 billion worth of goods from around the globe last year. According to available export-import data, the country will import 23 per cent more alumina in the first half of 2018, compared to the same period last year.
The market for high purity alumina witnessed growth during the past few years and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 20.7 per cent in terms of volume during the forecast period 2017-2023. The market is expected to garner $5,293 million by 2023, according to Allied Market Research.
{alcircleadd}As per global export-import data, Italy is estimated to import 87411 tonnes of alumina in the half of 2018, up from 70866 tonnes of alumina in the same period previous year.In H2 2018, the country is estimated to export 80435 tonnes of alumina, up from 68971 tonnes in the corresponding period previous year.
The cost of alumina import is estimated to stand at US$ 51 million in H1 2018, from US$ 44 million in H1 2017. In H2 2018, the value is estimated to stand at US$ 46 million, down from US$ 49 million in the corresponding period previous year.
France and Germany were the top exporters of alumina in 2017. France and Germany exported 56095 tonnes and 30733tonnes of alumina to Italy. Other key exporting countries are Spain (15602), Hungary (7984 tonnes), Bosnia Herzegovina (6412 tonnes) and South Korea (5924 tonnes).
