Jiangsu Alcha, the China-based aluminium product manufacturer, plans to open a new aluminium foil facility in Changshu for electric vehicle batteries (EV). The facility will produce aluminium foils which will be utilised in EV batteries. The facility is expected to produce 30,000 tonnes of aluminium foil yearly, enabling the business to satisfy the rising demand for the batteries used in electric vehicles. Jiangsu Alcha plans to spend around RMB 350 million ($55 million) on the new Changshu-based facility.
Jiangsu Alcha Aluminium Group is known for manufacturing hydrophilic coated aluminium foils, pure aluminium foils, aluminium alloy foils, aluminium scrip coils, and other goods. The company was formally listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on August 21, 2007, under the ticker symbol 002160 and the acronym Alcha.
The “Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2023” report stated that due to the growing need for lighter, more fuel-efficient, and safer automobiles, aluminium will continue to be used more and more in the automotive industry in the years to come. These years have also seen a rise in the popularity of electric vehicles and an upsurge in investments in renewable energy projects, especially the countries that aspire to become energy independent.
