Launching into service on May 1, the KTX-Cheongryong embarks on a transformative journey across the Gyeongbu and Honam high-speed lines. With its unparalleled acceleration and top speed capabilities, it revolutionises travel times, slashing the Seoul to Busan route to a mere 2 hours and 17 minutes, while the Yongsan to Gwangju Songjeong journey is condensed to a swift 1 hour and 36 minutes.

Engineering marvels: Aluminium at the helm of innovation

Crafted by Hyundai Rotem, the KTX-Cheongryong proudly showcases cutting-edge domestic technology, with distributed traction systems powering its swift movement. A shift from conventional power cars, this design choice not only enhances acceleration but also underscores South Korea's commitment to technological advancement.

Constructed from lightweight aluminium, the KTX-Cheongryong heralds a new era of efficiency and sustainability. Its use of aluminium not only reduces weight but also contributes to lower axle loads, promising enhanced track maintenance and longevity, thus aligning with global Net Zero initiatives.

A Glimpse into the future: Korail's vision

Korail's ambitious plans include the introduction of 17 additional KTX-Cheongryong trains by 2027, with infrastructure enhancements set to unleash their full 320km/h potential by 2028. With a keen eye on global markets, Korail positions the KTX-Cheongryong as a beacon of innovation, poised to set new standards in high-speed rail travel worldwide.

Beyond its speed prowess, the KTX-Cheongryong prioritises passenger comfort, offering a spacious and convenient journey for all travellers. With amenities such as 220V sockets, wireless chargers, and USB ports, coupled with adjustable boarding steps, it ensures a seamless and accessible experience for every passenger.
