Rheinmetall, along with KPSNC, its Chinese joint venture, has bagged a new order for chassis parts destined for an electric SUV made by a new player in the mobility sector. The order value for this is expected to be around €42 million. One of the top manufacturers of lightweight aluminium components is Rheinmetall, which has production sites in both Germany and China under its business unit Castings.
Amid the incoming order placed in mid-April 2022, the first pieces are scheduled for an October 2022 delivery. January 2024 marks the start of series production. A total of eight years are allotted for the project. The parts will be made at the Guangde facility in China's Anhui province in accordance with the "local for local" tenet.
In response to a formal request for bids, Rheinmetall defeated domestic and foreign rivals to secure the contract, reiterating the group's successful approach to the epoch-making shift to e-mobility. The position of Rheinmetall in the market for alternative drives is steadily growing.
For many years, Rheinmetall has made significant contributions to improving and enhancing the car as a tried-and-true technological partner, assisting in accelerating the continuing change in energy consumption.
The group has already established partnerships with many well-known manufacturers in the e-mobility space, with the know-how required to attract new clients and create cutting-edge solutions in close collaboration with them. The client in this instance is new to the group; it is a Chinese start-up that produces only electric vehicles and has an expanding production volume.

The result is a low-pressure cast chassis component. It will be sent to the customer completely processed and partially built with the intention of installation in electric SUVs.
