Liberty Aluminium Technologies has resumed production after a two-month halt, provided with safeguarding from COVID-19 epidemic by reducing the risk.
{alcircleadd}The staffs have started re-joining to their work this week for the production of components towards the automotive sector at sites in Coventry and Witham, Essex, a part of the Liberty Engineering group owned GFG Alliance.
The safety measures the factories have been taking starts from temperature checks on arrival, briefing on social distancing, usage of the marked way walking route, sanitation throughout the factory, closure of catering facilities, etc.
Liberty is a grade 1 supplier, it has resumed due to major carmakers that have been its pivotal consumers has already re-started production. The operations have begun at a modest level, as 15% of the employees are back on their duty, though Liberty is ready to shoot up production in response to demand.
Dr Douglas Dawson, CEO, Liberty Industries, said: “Liberty Engineering which is a sizeable Group and employs 1600 staff, is a resilient business. The automotive industry has been the heart of UK manufacturing for decades. We have as a business already overcome the challenges of Dieselgate, Brexit uncertainty and we will not be defeated by the COVID-19 crisis.”
“This is a gradual, controlled restart but we hope to be able to bring more employees back to work soon. The safety of our workforce is our absolute top priority, so we’ve consulted with unions and put in place appropriate measures to ensure that we are COVID-ready.”
Liberty Aluminium Technologies employs more than 400 people at sites in Coventry, Kidderminster and Witham, Essex. Among other Liberty Engineering businesses, Liberty Pressing Solutions in Coventry has resumed operations at a modest level for some customers.
