LME aluminium opened at US$2,320 per tonne on Thursday, with its high and low at US$2,334.5 per tonne and US$2,284 per tonne, respectively, before closing at US$2,295.5 per tonne, a drop of US$25.5 per tonne or 1.1 per cent.
On May 4, Thursday, the LME aluminium cash bid price anchored at US$2,296 per tonne, with a fall of US$33 per tonne or 1.42 per cent and the LME aluminium official settlement price settled at US$2,297 per tonne, with a similar accounted plunge.
The 3-month bid price witnessed a US$36 per tonne or 1.54 per cent drop to settle at US$2,306 per tonne, and the 3-month offer price shed US$35 per tonne or 1.49 per cent, resting at US$2,308 per tonne.
December 24 bid price and December 24 offer price halted at US$2,483 per tonne and US$2,488 per tonne, with a slump of US$35 per tonne or 1.39 per cent.
LME aluminium opening stock witnessed a 1,900 tonnes or 0.4 per cent decrease, officially closing at 563,300 tonnes.
Live warrants totalled 492,950 tonnes, marking a 450 tonnes or 0.09 per cent dive nearing the end of the week. Cancelled warrants read 70,350 tonnes, with 1,450 tonnes or a 2.02 per cent loss.
The 3-month Asian Reference Price came in at US$2,319.61 per tonne after being slashed by US$32.35 per tonne or 1.37 per cent.
SHFE aluminium price
On May 5, today, SHFE aluminium price has tumbled by US$26 per tonne or 0.97 per cent, officially settling down at US$2,656 per tonne.
At Thursday’s night session, the most-traded SHFE 2306 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,410 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 18,410 per tonne and RMB 18,250 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,330 per tonne, down RMB 115 per tonne or 0.62 per cent.
SHFE 2306 aluminium lost RMB 25 per tonne or 0.14 per cent to RMB 18,415 per tonne. The open interest fell from 612 lots to 211,625 lots.
