LME aluminium opened at US$ 2,817.50 per tonne on Thursday and closed at US$2,850 per tonne, an increase of US$26 per tonne or 0.92 per cent.
On Thursday, December 23, LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME aluminium official settlement price continued to move up, although lower, by US$7 per tonne to stand at US$2,817.50 per tonne and US$2,818 per tonne, respectively. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price for the same day stood at US$2,829 per tonne and US$2,830 per tonne, up by only US$1 per tonne from the previous day. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price hovered around US$2,790 per tonne and US$2,795 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock decreased to 968650 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants totalled at 731500 tonnes and 237150 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,842.96 per tonne.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
On Friday, December 24, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE dropped by US$7 per tonne to stand at US$3,159 per tonne, following two significant hikes from US$3,064 per tonne to US$3,166 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium closed up 2.24 per cent or RMB 445 per tonne to stand at RMB 20315 per tonne, with open interest up 9760 lots to 232640 lots.
The most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium contract opened at RMB 20,240 per tonne overnight, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 20,285 per tonne and RMB 20,085 per tonne before closing at RMB 20,255 per tonne, down by 0.05 per cent.
