LME aluminium price live chart points at M-o-M influx of 3.12%, up US$8.5/t on August 10; SHFE aluminium price loses US$1/t today

LME aluminium opened at US$2,197 per tonne on Thursday, with its high and low at US$2,220.5 per tonne and US$2,195.5 per tonne, respectively, before closing at US$2,203.5 per tonne, an increase of US$6.5 per tonne or 0.3 per cent from the previous trading day.

London Metal Exchange on August 10 marked a decent increase of US$9 per tonne or 0.42 per cent in LME aluminium cash bid price, which stood at US$2,161 per tonne. The LME aluminium live price chart also showed a US$8.50 per tonne or 0.39 per cent rise in the LME aluminium official settlement price, with it closing at US$2,161.50 per tonne.

If we consider the LME aluminium market on July 10, the price stood at US$2,096 per tonne, which has jumped US$65.50 per tonne or 3.125 per cent Month-on-Month to arrive at what it is today. 

LME 3-month bid price and LME 3-month offer price both skipped upwards by US$8 per tonne or 0.36 per cent, settling down at US$2,212 per tonne and US$2,213 per tonne. 

December 24 bid price and December 24 offer price uniformly accumulated US$8 per tonne or 0.34 per cent to register a price of US$2,373 per tonne and US$2,378 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock stood at 496,150 tonnes, with a significant hike of 1,150 tonnes or 0.23 per cent.

Live warrants and Cancelled warrants settled at 280,875 tonnes and 215,275 tonnes, with the former gaining 3,200 tonnes or 1.15 per cent and the latter dropping 2,050 tonnes or 0.94 per cent. 

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price pulled out at US$2,206.10 per tonne after skidding by US$12.67 per tonne or 0.57 per cent. 

Outlook 2023

SHFE aluminium price

Today, on August 11, the aluminium benchmark price at the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) has just inched down by US$1 per tonne or 0.04 per cent to halt at US$2,573 per tonne. On a Month-on-Month basis, the SHFE aluminium live price index has flashed an influx of US$34 per tonne or 1.34 per cent from July 11’s catalogued price of US$2,539 per tonne. 

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2309 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,540 per tonne, with the lowest and highest prices at RMB 18,480 per tonne and RMB 18,560 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,515 per tonne, up RMB 20 per tonne or 0.11 per cent from the previous trading day. 

SHFE 2307 aluminium added RMB 595 per tonne or 3.38 per cent to RMB 18,185 per tonne. The open interest fell 11,785 lots to 256,640 lots.
