LME benchmark aluminium price mounts by US$44/t to US$2380.50/t; SHFE stoops US$7/t down

LME aluminium opened at US$2,415 per tonne on Monday, with its high and low at US$2,434 per tonne and US$2,385 per tonne respectively before closing at US$2,389 per tonne, a drop of US$28 per tonne or 1.16 per cent.

On April 3, Monday, the LME aluminium cash bid price and the LME aluminium official settlement price heightened by US$44 per tonne or 1.88 per cent to close at US$2,380 per tonne and US$2,380.50 per tonne. The LME aluminium price has been maintaining a stability nearing the end of March and a similar stance is visible in the beginning of April.

The 3-month bid price skipped upwards by US$54 per tonne or 2.27 per cent, stopping at US$2,429 per tonne and the 3-month offer price soared by US$54.50 per tonne or 2.29 per cent halting at US$2,430 per tonne.

December 24 bid price and December 24 offer price halted at US$2,620 per tonne and US$2,625 per tonne with an increase of US$55 per tonne or 2.14 per cent.

LME aluminium opening stock witnessed a gain of 3,000 tonnes or 0.57 per cent to stock at 523,900 tonnes from 520,900 tonnes recorded the previous day.      

Live warrants totalled 419,800 tonnes, descending by 7,025 tonnes or 1.64 per cent. Cancelled warrants read 104,100 tonnes, with a sudden augmentation of 10,025 tonnes or 10.66 per cent.

The 3-month Asian Reference Price came in at US$2,392.12 per tonne after US$3.29 per tonne or 0.14 per cent was added to it.

SHFE aluminium price

On April 4, today, the SHFE aluminium benchmark price has settled at US$2,705 per tonne, with a US$7 per tonne or 0.26 per cent drop. The SHFE price might be fluctuating at the moment but is overall maintaining the US$2,700 per tonne bar it cracked at during March’s end.

At Monday’s night session, the most-traded SHFE 2305 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,750 per tonne, with its lowest and highest at RMB 18,645 per tonne and RMB 18,820 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,655 per tonne, down RMB 45 per tonne or 0.24 per cent.

The most-traded SHFE 2305 aluminium closed up 0.03 per cent or RMB 5 per tonne at RMB 18,715 per tonne, with open interest up 896 lots to 219,903 lots.
