The integration of a real-time monitoring system and improved operating capacity and loading rates, stabilising at 1,800 tph by September and peaking at 2,500 tph during free-digging operations at Ikamba's conveyor system, contributed to a new record high of Metro's bauxite shipment.
The new monthly high has brought the total year-to-date shipment to 4.45 million tonnes of wet bauxite, marking a 69.5 per cent achievement of the annual target of 6 to 6.4 million tonnes.
Until Q3 2024 ended September 30, Metro Mining recorded a bauxite shipment of 2.13 million tonnes, up 50 per cent sequentially and 32 per cent year-on-year. The Q3 shipment was recorded at a new quarterly high, along with a record-high production in the direction of 7 million tonnes of wet bauxite output per annum by 2025.
Production grew in Q3 2024 in line with expanded operations, as Metro's new wobbler screening circuit and Offshore Floating Terminal (OFT) Ikamba achieved nameplate capacity. Strategic improvements in process, team coordination, and operation efficiency contributed to production and shipment growth.
